Thursday, 11 March 2010

During the past month we have had many members out and about competing at various club and zone events. We have had some excellent results and all members are to be congratulated on their excellent behavior whilst representing our club.

Events and results since last meeting:

•    16th May: Kambah Combined Training

Willian G, riding Wizard and Lauren and Jordan F, riding Buggs and Cooper respectfully, attended Kambah’s Combined Training day. William and Jordan both competed in the very large field of 26 D grade riders, both boys were a lot younger than most the other riders, with Jordan being the youngest rider on the day (and as always on the smallest pony!), but they performed outstandingly.  William performed consistently throughout the day, and although he didn’t receive any places in individual events he earned an 5th place overall.  Jordan had excellent results achieving a 2nd in both the I C dressage and Am2 jumping rounds, earning 2nd place overall.  Lauren managed to win the first round of the C grade show jumping, but unfortunately had a bad fall in the second round and was unable to continue competing.

•    15th and 16th May: State Jumping Equitation Championships

Two of our riders, Millie B and Daanika were selected to represent Zone 16 in the PCANSW State Jumping Equitation Championships. Congratulations to both riders on their selection in the team.

•    23rd May: GGPC Event

We had about 30 riders from around the zone attend our event all whom had a very enjoyable day. Riders competed in hack, handler, derby, dressage, handy horse and rider in action. It was a great day for some of our younger riders who have not had much competition experience to be involved. Congratulations to our Challenge winner, Jasmine, and equal reserve went to James E and Brianna S.

•    6th June: Bungendore ODE

Mikaela, Daanika, Lauren, Jordan and William all attended Bungendore ODE and had a great day.  Mikaela had a fantastic jumping and cross country round and won 3rd overall in her division. Lauren got through her dressage test (enough said!)  and had no penalties in the show jumping, but unfortunately had a fall in the cross country so was eliminated, but luckily wasn’t hurt. Jordan and Cooper again had a fanstastic day, winning their division and winning the highest dressage percentage for their division by getting the 3rd highest dressage score for the day in the 1A test, no penalties in the show jumping, and a very steady and clear cross country round (Jordan rode very cautiously after his sister’s fall and incurred time penalties). William was riding a new pony (Mickey- Kiah’s pony) and had excellent results in the show jumping (no penalties) and the cross country where he rode one of the best E grade rounds with no time penalties just some jump penalties, and won 5th place overall in his division. Daanika was very happy with all her events and with her horse Oscar and she managed to come 4th overall in her division. Well done to all of our riders and their excellent results.

Zone Equitation - 27/3/10

Six Geary’s Gap riders had a great time at Zone Equitation last Saturday and achieved some excellent results.

James E, Millie B, Daanika, Lauren F, Jordan and William G all represented our club well. The GGPC team of Lauren, Jordan, Millie and Daanika got 3rd in the teams competition.

Individual results are:

William: Will had a last minute change of pony as his horse Tom went lame a couple of days before the competition. Will rode Wizard and as usual Wizard was very calm and well behaved. After the first round Will gained some more confidence and they got 3 clear and accurate rounds with lots of cantering. They were competing in E grade against 2 other riders from CRC. They got 2nd in the first two rounds and 3rd in the final round and had lots of fun.

James: James and Billy competed in D grade with a large field of near 20 junior and associate riders (associates and juniors were combined). Billy was very excited to be out jumping and full of energy, but very well behaved! They had three clear rounds. They were unplaced in the first two rounds but had a fantastic 3rd round completing all 3 tasks very well, especially the striding task, and managed to get a 1st place.

Jordan: Cooper was the smallest pony there on the day and Jordan was the youngest rider but they flew around the grounds attracting attention from everyone as usual. This was their first D grade competition and they did very well. In the first round they managed to get 2nd (Jordan was very proud to beat Lauren!) after a fantastic, clear (and very fast) round. In the second round they knocked a pole but still managed 4th place achieving excellent scores in all other areas and leading the large field of D grade riders after the second round. Unfortunately by the third round Cooper (who wasn’t as fit as usual after all the green grass!) was exhausted and a little sore so refused jump 5b three times (he didn’t have enough energy to make the double combination) and they were eliminated. Jordan was disappointed but is now very much looking forward to their next jumping competition.

Lauren: Lauren and Buggs had a great day with 3 clear rounds and Buggs was on his best behavior. They competed with James and Jordan in D grade. They had a new jump saddle to ride in which caused some problems for Lauren who wasn’t used to it but gives them something to work on for next time! They got 6th in the first round (and were embarrassed, but proud to be beaten by Jordan and Cooper!), 3rd in the second and 4th in the third round.

Millie: Millie and Skye competed in C grade with a very large field of juniors and associates combined. They were unplaced in the first two rounds but had an excellent third round and managed a 1st place!

Dannika: Daanika and Oscar competed in C grade with Millie. They had an excellent day with a 4th in the first round, unplaced in the second and a 2nd in the third round.

Well done to all riders who competed on the day and good luck to Millie and Daanika who have both nominated for State Equitation.
